Benchmade 318 Proper
Article number: 318
The Benchmade Proper 318 is the first-ever slipjoint made by Benchmade. You open this gentleman’s knife with two hands and it doesn’t lock: it has a slipjoint. Ideal as a stylish gentleman’s knife you can use to peel an apple or cut a nice piece of steak. Also good to know: you can legally carry a slipjoint with you in many places in Europe.
The blade has a classic style. The contours are nothing like the rest of the modern Benchmade range. The clippoint blade you see here might remind you of the classic Barlow style traditionals. In terms of steel Benchmade chose CPM S30V steel. A modern powdered type of steel, specifically designed for high-end pocket knives. Within the category of slipjoints you won’t come across that many pocket knives with such great steel. In addition, enthusiasts will definitely appreciate that Benchmade has enhanced the Proper with a stop-pin that prevents the spring from closing. A definite improvement.
The handle is made from canvas micarta. Offers you a lot of grip and is abrasion resistant. The good thing about this ‘rough’ micarta is that it will form a patina on its own. It gets darker the more you use it. Grown tired of the dark colour? Simply degrease it with some petrol and the micarta will be (almost) as good as new.
